PRIVACY POLICY

Your goals are personal. We treat them that way.

This policy explains what Chunks processes, why it is needed, when it goes to a service provider, and the choices you have.

1. The short version

Chunks uses the information you choose to provide to generate small, personalized next steps and keep your progress available across devices. When you ask for transcription or AI help, the relevant recording or mission context is sent to service providers that make those features work.

Chunks does not sell personal information, show third-party ads, or use cross-app tracking. You can revoke microphone permission, use text instead of voice, and delete your account and Chunks data from inside the app.

2. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Chunks iOS application, this website, and related support communications (together, the “Services”). In this policy, “Chunks,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer and operator of Chunks.

3. Information we process

Account information

If you sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple account identifier and, depending on the choices you make in Apple’s sign-in flow, your name and email address or Apple private relay email address. Apple does not give Chunks your Apple ID password.

Content you create

This can include your missions, obstacles, preferred support style, time choices, chunks, reflections, mission chats, to-do items, progress summaries, and other text you choose to enter. It also includes AI-generated chunks, summaries, and encouragement saved to your account.

Voice recordings and transcripts

Chunks accesses the microphone only after you choose to record and iOS grants permission. The recording is uploaded for transcription and the resulting text is returned to Chunks. Chunks does not intentionally store the audio file as part of your account after the transcription request completes. The transcript may become part of the mission, reflection, chat, or other content you choose to save.

Service and technical information

We process information needed to operate and protect the Services, such as request timestamps, feature or AI operation used, model used, request status, transcription duration, quota usage, error details, and an app installation identifier used for local-to-cloud data migration. We do not use this information for cross-app advertising or tracking.

Support communications

If you contact support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include, such as app version, device model, screenshots, or a description of the issue.

Website requests

Our hosting provider may automatically process basic request data, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp, to deliver and secure this website. At launch, the Chunks website does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

  • authenticate your account and sync your Chunks data;
  • transcribe recordings when you request voice input;
  • generate, refine, and adapt chunks using your mission context, preferences, and reflections;
  • provide progress views, daily notes, and mission conversations;
  • enforce usage limits and prevent abuse or duplicate requests;
  • diagnose errors, maintain security, and improve reliability;
  • respond to support requests; and
  • comply with law and protect users, Chunks, and others.

5. AI and voice processing

Chunks sends information to an AI provider only when it is needed for a feature you request. For transcription, this is the recording and limited request details. For chunk generation, refinement, reflections, summaries, or mission chat, this is the relevant mission content and preferences needed to produce a useful response.

AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your situation. Do not include information you would not want processed by an AI service. Chunks is a productivity tool and is not a substitute for medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice.

6. Service providers and disclosures

We disclose information only as needed to operate the Services, comply with law, or protect rights and safety. Current categories of providers include:

Service providers acting on our behalf are required to protect personal information consistently with this policy and applicable law, and to process it only for the services they provide to us.

We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with a valid legal request; enforce our terms; detect or prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues; or protect the rights, property, and safety of users, Chunks, or the public. If Chunks is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

7. What we do not do

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not show third-party advertising in Chunks.
  • We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • We do not access the microphone unless you start a voice recording and have granted iOS permission.

8. Retention and deletion

Account content is generally retained while your account is active so the app can sync and preserve progress. Request, quota, and security records are retained only as long as reasonably needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and comply with legal obligations for the Services.

You can delete your account in Chunks by opening Settings, scrolling to Data controls, choosing Delete account, and confirming. Account deletion removes the account and associated Chunks cloud data. Some limited information may remain temporarily in secure backups or logs until they rotate, or longer if retention is required by law or necessary to resolve fraud, security, or legal issues.

If you cannot access the app, follow the instructions on our account deletion page or email chunksapphelp@gmail.com.

9. Your controls and privacy rights

  • Microphone: Allow or revoke access in iOS Settings. Text entry remains available.
  • Account deletion: Delete your account from inside Chunks.
  • Access, correction, or export: Contact us to request a copy or correction of information associated with your account.
  • Objection, restriction, or withdrawal: Where applicable, you may object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or request deletion.
  • Appeal or complaint: Depending on your location, you may appeal a decision or contact your local data protection authority.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request. Rights vary by location, and lawful exceptions may apply. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

10. Security and international processing

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Chunks and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers.

11. Children

Chunks is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of applicable law, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Chunks changes. We will post the revised policy here, update the effective date, and provide additional notice when required by law or when a change materially affects your rights.
